The new chairman and CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, was re-introduced to overseas tour operators and foreign press at the BIT trade fair in Italy from February 18-21.
BIT, otherwise known as the “International Tourism Exchange,” is Italy’s largest travel exhibition featuring both the Italian tourism product and the international holiday marketplace.
Seychelles was represented at the fair by a 26-strong delegation comprising participants from STB, Air Seychelles, local destination management companies and various hotels. Delegates networked and conducted business on the 48 square-metre Seychelles stand, featuring the colour backdrop of the fisherman amidst granite rocks.
The new colour backdrop was chosen to harmonise with STB’s new colour promotional tools, including posters and the brand new A3 consumer brochure, which was first launched at the Fitur trade fair in Spain late last month.
Now in its 26th year, BIT is held over four days and is open to exhibitors, consumers, trade participants and members of the press. The event attracted an audience of some 146,685 in 2005.
STB and Air Seychelles, in collaboration with the local trade, hosted a Seychelles Evening complete with live Seychellois music on Sunday, February 19, 2006 to thank the international trade for their continued support in the Italian market.
After the final day of BIT, Mr Lalanne led members of the STB and trade delegation to Paris on February 22, for the second day of a six-city Seychelles road show through France
